Thymosin Alpha-1 5mg and 10mg: An Immune Research Peptide
This one's bigger than the usual short peptides labs work with, 28 amino acids stacked together. Goldstein and his team pulled it out of calf thymus tissue way back in 1977, from a mixture they called Thymosin Fraction 5. Out of that whole mixture, this particular peptide ended up being the most active piece by far, which is why it got studied on its own after that.

Breaking Down the Structure
The sequence reads Ac-Ser-Asp-Ala-Ala-Val-Asp-Thr-Ser-Ser-Glu-Ile-Thr-Thr-Lys-Asp-Leu-Lys-Glu-Lys-Lys-Glu-Val-Val-Glu-Glu-Ala-Glu-Asn-OH, and the formula works out to C129H215N33O55. Weight lands around 3,108 Da. As a raw material it shows up white, sometimes off white, in freeze dried powder form.
One thing worth knowing, there's an acetyl group attached right at the N-terminus end. That small addition actually plays a big role in keeping the peptide stable. The body makes this naturally too, mostly from cells in the thymus, though it comes from cutting down a much longer protein called prothymosin alpha first. And like a lot of things tied to the thymus, levels seem to fall off as people age, probably because the thymus itself shrinks over time.
What Gets Studied With It
Researchers keep coming back to a handful of angles here. T-cell development is a big one, along with how dendritic cells respond once activated through TLR2 and TLR9. There's also work on cytokine output, antibody responses, and how this peptide might boost vaccine related immune activity. A fair amount of comparative work happens too, stacking it against other peptides that come from the thymus.
It's pretty common for teams working with KPV to bring Thymosin Alpha-1 into the same study, especially when the goal is comparing how different peptides behave across immune and inflammatory pathways.
Where Things Stand Legally
This compound does carry FDA orphan drug status, but only for a narrow set of research contexts, nothing close to general approval. Outside of that, it's sold purely as a research chemical.
